In the mid 80s, gaming made up the lion’s share of revenues for casinos on the Las Vegas strip. Today, it accounts for about a third of total revenues, and the trend suggests it will continue to decline. What should the leisure and hospitality industry make of this? Is it a problem…or an opportunity in disguise? The successful players see it as an opportunity to capitalize on ancillary revenues such as exclusive shopping, fine dining, and VIP services.
