Director of Strategy


Company Background

Our client is a PE-backed SaaS company with a suite of products that facilitate summer camps. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Boulder, CO, the company is on an exciting growth trajectory centered around a mission to make summer camps as accessible and transformational as possible. They have consistently ranked as a “Top Place to Work” by a leading national magazine.

The Position

The Director of Strategy will report directly to the President and work closely with the CEO. The core objective will be to uncover missing value opportunities and drive top line revenue by developing, stack ranking, and executing strategic ideas. Key to success in this role will hinge on the Director’s ability to marry creative and quantitative thinking, and then to attain buy-in from multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a management consultant at a top-tier firm who is ready to roll up their sleeves and drive meaningful change in a mission-driven and low-ego environment.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the President and the CEO to put “meat on the bone” of value creation projects
  • Conduct research and leverage data-driven strategic insights to create roadmaps for topline growth, including new revenue streams
  • Rank and stack strategic projects by ROI
  • Drive projects forward by working cross-functionally across different departments
  • Work closely with the VP of Product to develop go-to-market plans on new SaaS product offerings
  • Take the lead on pricing strategy – develop a strategy to maximize market potential and design a framework for monitoring outcomes
  • Distill complex ideas into simple, effective communications and presentations, both oral and written

Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a post-MBA position at a top-tier management consulting strategy firm
  • Top tier MBA preferred
  • Have experience working on value creation projects (pricing, GTM) in the SaaS space
  • Be a data-driven and outcome-oriented thinker with strong business acumen
  • Be a strong strategic thinker who can balance between the 5,000 foot view and getting down into the weeds
  • Be a strong self-starter who has driven meaningful results
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to quickly build relationships across all levels
  • Have a strong work ethic – ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple commitments 
  • Be an ambassador for the company culture, which values integrity, openness, and continuous improvement
