Vice President of Global FP&A

Company Background

Private Equity-backed chemical manufacturer with a dominant global market share in one of the most utilized elements on the planet. The company recently underwent a large-scale merger with a major global competitor to incorporate a commanding multinational presence. The Private Equity firm has long since recouped their original investment and aims to continue to realize their long-term global strategy focused on this fundamental and highly recyclable resource.

The Position

The company is seeking a top-tier finance leader to own global analysis and reporting activities across the company’s international business operations. The role will build and lead international teams that are responsible for generating key data-driven insights within this large and highly complex composite entity. The VP will work directly with the CFO and private equity backer as the lead conduit for global insight and reporting. The role will play a significant business leadership role beyond financial planning and analysis and will be an excellent step on the way to future private equity portfolio CFO roles.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Provide critical financial analytics, interpretation, and insight into global business performance to make data-driven recommendations that drive revenue, growth, and overall financial strategy 
• Actively participate and provide leadership in the development of business strategies and plans, as well as their execution
• Develop, implement, and maintain an effective planning and analysis capability that can function as an internal financial consultant to the business  
• Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting & analytics, communicating opportunities, risks, and performance issues to business segment leadership
• Lead Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process for the global business and coordinate this process across all functional teams
• Engage actively in the areas of cost-saving efficiencies, process improvements, internal controls, and compliance



Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have:

• 10+ years of finance experience with progressive responsibility leading an FP&A function
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or relevant subject; MBA preferred but not required
• Private Equity portfolio company experience preferred but not required
• A proven ability to be hands-on in developing new strategies, processes, 3-statement models, reporting standards, etc.
• Experience advising and supporting business leaders on financing due diligence, board/management financial reporting, accounting, cost optimization, and other strategic functions
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, practices and procedures which may include technical experience in balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues of a complex nature.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, large data sets)
• Collaborator/Team Builder/Team player across all levels of the company
• Nimble, self-starter with ability to learn in a fast-paced environment

This company is located in Houston, TX, and on-site presence is required.
