Chief of Staff to Chief Strategy Officer

The Position


This position is responsible for directing, monitoring, and contributing to the management of Office of the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), with a special focus on supporting the CSO on executive-level strategic advising, interdepartmental collaboration, and office management. This role will provide direct exposure to senior leadership across a wide range of functions and an opportunity to make an impact on business strategy, productivity, and business performance.


Primary responsibilities include:


  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CSO, collaborating, advising, and executing on special, strategic projects
  • Work closely with business sponsors and project teams to organize and facilitate large scale, cross-divisional projects
  • Act as liaison between CSO, other executives, clients, and stakeholders
  • Act as strategic adviser to Executive Team to determine and prioritize business strategies, problem-solving to ensure successful implementation of company-wide initiatives
  • Improve current processes and optimize organizational procedures for efficiency and productivity
  • Oversee budget for the Strategy office
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert, handling inquiries, developing action plans, and assisting with preparation and dissemination of communications
  • Work closely with CSO’s administrative assistant to prioritize schedule requests, and manage cadence and agendas for CSO direct report and leadership meetings



Qualifications and Candidate Background


The ideal candidate will have:


  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience in strategic and tactical business planning; some Management Consulting experience preferred
  • Substantial experience in healthcare, especially with a payer, and a strong understanding of industry operations and trends
  • Strong relationship-building skills, a “people” person who easily connects and emphasizes with others at all levels 
  • Ability to operate autonomously with little oversight and manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment 
  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn quickly and synthesize large amounts of ambiguous information into key action items 
  • A keen strategic mindset as well as strong “doer” mentality, willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes   
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to persuasively convey CSO’s vision to multiple audiences 
  • Highly motivated self-starter 



Location

The position is located in Chicago (hybrid but not remote)
