Company Background


Our client is an investor-backed fire protection services company that is growing rapidly throughout the Southwest, Midwest, and west coast regions. The company provides a range of services including alarm and suppression system construction, testing and inspection, and maintenance for commercial and high-end entities. As a niche competitor in a growing and complex market, the company currently generates upwards of $19 million in annual revenue, and they are actively expanding into new geographies.


The Position


The CEO will play a critical role in shaping the growing company into a coherent entity and driving its further expansion. They will bring a deep understanding of fire protection services to everyday operations while working with commercial, operational, and financial leaders to ensure the company’s continued success. The candidate will employ a broad strategic business mindset and a strong hands-on approach to executing company projects and initiatives with a high degree of tactical competency. Working in conjunction with the Board of Directors and fractional CFO, the CEO will apply excellent leadership skills to chart a path forward for the company, lead operations and growth, and ensure cohesion among the geographically dispersed team.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

·      Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy that positions the company as a leading provider of fire services within a competitive market. Stay abreast of industry trends, identify new opportunities, and drive innovation to maintain a competitive edge

·      Oversee all aspects of company operations, ensuring seamless delivery of company services. Implement efficient processes and systems to optimize productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction

·      Collaborate with the CFO to implement robust financial reporting systems, including the selection and implementation of a full-scale ERP system.

·      Drive market share growth by identifying target markets, forging strategic partnerships, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

·      Foster a people-first culture by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among our geographically distant staff, ensuring alignment with company goals and values

·      Work closely with the board of directors to provide regular updates on company performance, seek guidance on strategic initiatives, and collaborate on the potential preparation and execution of an exit strategy for investors

Develop, track, and routinely report on department KPIs including backlog and pipeline


Qualifications and Candidate Background


The ideal candidate will have:

 

·      Ability to develop and execute a forward-thinking growth strategy, navigate a complex market landscape and maintain a competitive advantage

·      Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting is highly desirable

·      Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a diverse team. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, and stakeholders

·      Deep knowledge of the fire protection services industry, specializing in fire suppression and complex fire alarm systems, with a demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities

·      Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with the board of directors, investors, and other key stakeholders

·      Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Comfortable taking calculated risks and making data-driven decisions

Location

The position is located in the Southwest and will require regular onsite presence.
