Vice President of Medical Management

Southern California, Remote

Company Background 
 

Our client is a high-growth PE-backed medical group based in Southern California. Operating clinics across San Diego, Riverside and Ventura counties, our client is transforming primary care through population health management initiatives, a holistic view of patient health at the community level and a best-in-class patient experience. 

 

The Position  
 

Our client is looking for a Vice President of Medical Management who will meet the challenges and opportunities of working at the cutting edge of the medical landscape. In addition to overseeing the expansion of value-based care practices across the network, the VP will analyze and interpret data to track utilization and make modifications to resource allocation.  

The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate of value-based care with strong data analytical skills and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:  

  • Searching for best practices of population health outside of the organization 

  • Implementing best population health practices internally 

  • Meeting with external providers and systems to provide recommendations and bring about alignment on value-based care 

  • Assuming active ownership over aspects of the medical department, e.g., provider issues and compensation 

  • Identifying root causes of expense anomalies and acting upon solution pathways 

  • Ensuring opportunities are being executed on, such as voluntary alignment, HCC coding and regular visits of claims-based patients 

  • Assisting with creating and implementing initiatives for reducing spending, which will include discharge clinics, home visits, patient education, etc. 

 

Qualifications and Candidate Background 
 

The ideal candidate will have:  

  • 4+ years of experience in healthcare-based consulting or healthcare operations 

  • Strong background in operationalizing data to extract insights and drive initiatives 

  • Ability to partner with multiple stakeholders and get buy-in to achieve business goals 

  • Excellent knowledge of budgeting, reporting, and realizing target results 

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to act as a thought partner to leaders across the organization 

  • MBA or MPH is a plus 

  

Location 
 

The position is located in Southern California, though there is flexibility for remote with frequent travel to the site.
