Vice President of M&A


Company Background 

Backed by a leading private equity firm, our client is a significant player in the packaged gas business. They are assembling a national federation of high-quality distributors of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as welding & safety supplies. They will have $300M in revenues by year-end and aspire to grow to $500 million to $1 billion through further acquisitions. 

The Position  

Our client is seeking an energetic team player with phenomenal EQ and an entrepreneurial mentality who can manage multiple projects with poise and efficiency. As VP of M&A, you’ll be handed deals post-sourcing and lead the entire M&A process through deal close, until the handoff to the integration team.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Conducting rigorous valuation analyses and business/integration case modeling to evaluate and recommend transaction opportunities   

  • Leading the M&A process post LOI, including diligence and negotiations  

  • Coordinating management discussions with acquisition targets to assess strategic “fit”  

  • Supporting the creation of investment recommendations and related presentations for the leadership team  

  • Leveraging data and analytics to provide actionable recommendations  

  • Working across legal and accounting through the close process 

Qualifications and Candidate Background 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in M&A or corporate development   

  • Critical thinking skills with a high level of business acumen 

  • A self-starting attitude to work independently 

  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to provide actionable recommendations 

  • Phenomenal EQ and relationship-building skills 

  • Successful track record of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment 

  • A background in problem-solving, with the ability to boldly address unpredictable challenges 

  • The ability to be a thought partner and drive internal alignment   

  • MBA preferred but not required 


The position is remote, with 10% travel.
