Financial Controller

Stamford, CT

Company Background

Our client is a leading innovator in home hardware and automation, serving all segments of the domestic and international industries.  They are the largest independent engineered component manufacturer and distributor in their focus area, with a team of over 250 staff spanning the United States, Australia, and Europe, while serving thousands of customers in over 40 countries around the world.

The Position

The Controller will lead the overall daily US accounting and finance function, leading a four-person accounting team and taking ownership over US financial reporting. This role is highly visible throughout the global organization and will offer future growth opportunities through existing FP&A process improvement and acquisition integration.

Core responsibilities:
  • Deliver monthly US financial statements, supporting schedules, analyses (e.g., gross margin trends), & financial commentary to CFO and CEO
  • Manage the US accounting team comprised of a Credit Manager, Senior Accountant, & Junior Accountants
  • Oversee i) cash management, ii) year-end audit, & iii) company insurance program
  • Support CFO in the annual budget and mid-year forecasting
  • Support all Company departments through ad-hoc financial planning and analysis
  • Promote a positive work environment by exhibiting Core Values

Additional responsibilities:
  • Consolidate global financial statements (including intercompany eliminations) monthly
  • Consolidate global cash projections weekly
  • Interface with external stakeholders via tracking and reporting quarterly debt covenants
  • Support financial integration of any acquisitions

Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of total work experience in finance/accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading and managing a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong IT skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (preferred)
  • Ability to manage a high-performing finance team with experience developing employees
  • Ability to generate & analyze income statements, balance sheets, & cash flow statements
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines
  • Exceptional written/oral communication & presentation skills, including effectively interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional work ethic; high degree of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to create, set, & achieve strategic objectives
