Client / Situation
- Our client, a former McKinsey & Company consultant at a healthcare organization, was looking for support on strengthening their leadership team
- The ideal VP of Enterprise Strategy will be an individual influencer that has the ability to work across multiple strategy implementations within a diverse and complex organization, and work with the broader business leaders on the operational refresh of the company
Objectives / Mandate
- Perform management responsibilities: hiring and firing decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity
- Develop and implement policies and programs to plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department
- Lead the development of the enterprise strategy on a 5-year recurring basis, with an annual refresh, in close collaboration with the VP of Strategic Planning
- Direct a team of strategy consultants to work on executive leadership team sponsored strategic initiatives, primarily cross-enterprise strategy development or BU specific support for strategy
- Refine and improve internal standards for strategy development and implementation processes
- Build a small team of healthcare experienced consultants with cross-functional expertise (e.g., some payer, some provider, some general healthcare)
- Collaborate with STO leadership to develop the roadmap for the company’s transformation and identify where strategy is needed
- Help foster the development of a more strategic mindset across the organization
