- They were looking to identify attractive new markets the product can serve without significant development investment – to drive near-term and long-term growth
Objectives / Results Achieved
- Established market assessment criteria and product strengths and key use cases
- Identified a comprehensive list of potential new market segments and ranked by size and product fit to narrow to top candidates for deep-dive assessment
- Assessed (through interviews, research, and analysis) and provided a strategic recommendation on three key markets:
1. Home / Building Services – despite the large market size and client hypothesis of ease of entry, recommended the client to not enter the market given intense competition (significant traction, funding and product advantages of competitive players)
2. Construction / Contractors – identified this as a large, quickly growing segment with evolving software needs and an attractive market for long-term growth
3. Commercial / Industrial Equipment Servicers – recommended to pursue this segment given product alignment, market ecosystem alignment, and evolving needs including future IoT / connect device impact on servicing industry
